School Law Boot Camp: A Legal Refresher Course for School Administrators

(2-Day Course – 12 Instructional Hours)

School law is one of the most expansive areas of law, and public school administrators regularly deal with almost every aspect of law. On any given day, a public school administrators will handle issues related to student discipline, student rights, employee contracts, collective bargaining issues, employee speech and religious rights, dress coe special education and student disability-related issues, employee ADA issues, police referrals, mandated reporting / child welfare matters, school budgets and finance, student records privacy, technology issues, and so much more.

In today’s public schools, administrators need a strong foundation in many different aspects of law. This 2-day course is designed to provide an overview of the fundamental legal principles that every public school administrator needs to know. The session covers provides a basic framework for the following areas of law: employment & labor law; student rights & legal obligations to students; technology law; enrollment, transportation, & attendance; and school finance & governance.
